The conclusion of the Report sent to the then Minister
Snelling on June 30th. 2017
(The Full
Report is available on request)
"It is crucial to plan for the future. The
services and activity at Wallaroo Hospital and the Community Health services
will be placed under increased pressure, driven by;
Ø Population growth in our area;
Ø An ageing population;
Ø Increased visitation to our area;
Ø The apparent centralisation of
services, such as increased surgical activity coming from cessation of services
at Yorketown Hospital; and
Ø The widespread mental health issues
within rural communities.
We have here not raised minor issues and concerns but
rather matters that we and our community regard as significant and of
substance.
We acknowledge that the publicity and raising at HAC
level of community concerns that have been raised have been noted and addressed
to some extent.
We are aware that the District Council of the Copper
Coast has also recently met with the Minister with their concerns about the
local health services and we endorse their concerns.
The NYP HAC submits this summary of community concerns
and feedback to the attention and consideration of the Minister of
Health."
